48 HOURS IN LIENNCRES


Getting there: From Santander, you must take the motorway A-67 and exit in Puente Arce. You can also arrive by train just the Boo’s station in FEVE or the Renedo’s station in RENFE.

Check-in: In Liencres there are no many hotels. Hotel Las Dunas is the best option. It has incredible views to the Cantabrian Sea. You can also stay in hotel Mariajose. The prices are not too expensive.

Take a walk: One of the most amazing areas are the Dunes, a landscape of sand, sea and little animals, it’s a protected area. You can also walk along the Pinegrove, this visit it’s more recommendable in the daylight.

Lunch on the run: The well-known Meson del Labrador in one of the best restaurants in Cantabria. It’s located in the centre of the village and offer traditional food of quality. The service it’s nice and eficient.

Take a view: If you climb to the top of Picota’s mont (it’s not a dificult climbing), you will have the most beautifull view of your whole live. The river Pas’ stuary, beetwen the villages of Liencres and Mogro. You can’t visit this village without see the sunset over the beaches of Liencres.
Dinner with the locals: The Cantabrian people like to go dinner eating little dishes for share. It’s called “picar algo”. One of the best “picoteo” places is Bellota & Garnacha a restaurant well-known for his quality. There you can taste good iberico ham, good wine, and a wide variety of food and beverages.
Sunday morning: All Sundays in Liencres take place an itinerary market composed by 150 stands. You can buy clothes, fruit, sweets, bread, decorative items… There’re always a lot of people buying and walking between the stands. And after the market is well worth having a wine, some “rabas” or mussels before having lunch.
