GETTING THERE
You can travel to Santander in any of these airlines: Air Nostrum, Iberia and Ryanair. Once in Santander you can catch a direct bus to Laredo, which takes about 34 minutes. (www.transportedecantabria.es)
CHECK IN
In Laredo we can
find different hotels, family hostels, small apartments and camp sites. For
example, Miramar Hotel, is a three stars hotel located in the Alta de Laredo
and has views over the bay of Laredo and the beach of the Salvé.
TAKE A WALK
In the urban
area, is located the longest beach of Cantabria (more than four kilometers).
Near the center of the village, we can cover some green routes, routes from one
to three hours on foot, in which you can see small gardens and fields.
LUNCH ON THE RUN
In the Puebla
Vieja of Laredo, you can find a lot of bars and restaurants in where you can
enjoy the gastronomy of the area. For example, if you want to eat something
quickly to continue your visit, you can taste the famous Pinchos in the
Portalón, a famous tavern.
WINDOW SHOPPING
Laredo offers a
wide variety of shops situated in the center of the village. In the Abastos’
Market, you can buy any type of fresh food, like fruits, vegetables, meat,
fish, seafood, etc…
TAKE A VIEW
The Puebla Vieja
and the Arrabal, is a must for any visitor in Laredo. Is the oldest part of the
village and is medieval. In this area you can see the church of Santa María de
la Asunción and other important buildings.
DINNER WITH THE LOCALS
Laredo has a lot
of restaurants in which you can taste its gastronomy. This village is famous
for its fish and shellfish, like monkfish, anchovies, oyster and bocartes. You
can enjoy all this products in the restaurant El Pescador. And after dinner,
there a lot of bars for drink a cocktail outside.
SUNDAY MORNING: GO TO THE BEACH
Sunday is a good
day to go to the beach for surfing or windsurfing, or if you prefer you can
ride a horse along the spectacular beach.
